Armor is worth heating up until level 5 for the full health bonuses, then weapons should get the full bulk of your crystals. You don't even need to heat your shield if you don't want to, it gains very little benefit. ![]() If it gains something new by going to 5*, such as an improved charge attack (I.E the difference between Avenger and Divine Avenger, or the difference between 4* and 5* Alchemers), then yes, it's worth ascending it. If the item in question has no change in functionality, it should stay 4* until you can afford to heat it all the way.
